چکیده
The relativistic amplitude for the direct knockout contribution to (γ, p) reactions on nuclei is reduced to a nonrelativistic form using an effective Pauli reduction scheme. The reduction is carried out to second order in the inverse nucleon mass. It is found that the interaction Hamiltonian appearing in the nonrelativistic amplitude has significant dependence, starting at second order, on the vector and scalar mean nuclear potentials. These strong medium modifications are absent in traditional nonrelativistic calculations. Detailed comparisons show that these modifications are crucial to understanding the differences between relativistic and nonrelativistic models. These differences are also examined through reduction of the relativistic amplitude via the Foldy-Wouthuysen transformation. Similar medium modifications are obtained in this case as well. We discuss the implications of these medium modifications for the consistency of existing nonrelativistic calculations.

It is shown that new spin-orbit-like terms appear in the effective nonrelativistic weak Hamil-tonian for nucleon provided that nuclear potential is taken into account. Arguments for their considerable enhancement, in particular, in relativistic nuclear model of Walecka are advanced. Effective weak Hamiltonian for nucleon is given by covariant product of lepton current J λ and nucleon current op...

We compute for the first time the decay width of Λ-hypernuclei in a rela-tivistic mean-field approximation to the Walecka model. Due to the small mass difference between the Λ-hyperon and its decay products—a nucleon and a pion—the mesonic component of the decay is strongly Pauli blocked in the nuclear medium. Thus, the in-medium decay becomes dominated by the non-mesonic, or two-body, componen...

We investigate the effects of nuclear quadrupole and hexadecapole couplings on the average angular momentum in sub-barrier fusion reactions. This quantity could provide a probe for nuclear shapes, distinguishing between prolate vs. oblate quadrupole and positive vs. negative hexadecapole couplings. We describe the data in the O + Sm system and discuss heavier systems where shape effects become ...

The various kinds of flow phenomena such as directed flow, elliptic flow and radial flow have been observed in recent experiment at AGS and SPS [1]-[4]. Anisotropic flow phenomena are expected to show a strong dependence on the nuclear equation of state [5]. Here, for analyzing anisotropic flow phenomena with relativistic hydrodynamical model in detail, we need full calculation of (3+1)-dimensi...
